Invisible Illness Awareness Week Count Down

7 Ways to Support a Loved One With Invisible Illness

We are excitedly anticipating the arrival of Invisible Illness Awareness Week, and to celebrate we are counting down the top seven things you can do to support a loved one with invisible illness.  Without further delay the lovely #3 is…

This sounds so obvious and easy, but invisible illness is able to complicate even the simplest of things.  When someone is battling an invisible illness it is not always as clear when they need extra help or support to those around them.  Further complicating this, is the fact that sometimes people with invisible illnesses don’t know how to ask for help.  They may struggle to reach out because they don’t feel their battle is always validated by others.  Feelings of non-acceptance or guilt may stand in the way of them asking for the help they need.  That is why it is important that you take the time to reach out to your loved one with an invisible illness by being there for them.  Let them know that you are there for them when they need you.  Be attentive to signs that they need you and don’t let them down when they reach out to you.  It takes a lot to fight an invisible illness and even more to ask for help, so when they do, they really need it.  To show your support for loved ones with an invisible illness be there for them when they need you.
